Lay The Place
Here's the wrap-up on my, Lay The Place trial, short-lived as it was.
This is not intended to be a blank statement that applies to everybody, but I found it not my cuppa' tea, so to speak.
It's one that has to be done live, and that means sitting, watching and waiting for the next chance to sit and watch fast moving markets.
The norm, I found, at least during my brief trial, seems to be to juggle two or more prices right up to the off, only to end up missing races because the net price of the two horses ends up outside the Lay-The-Place system rules.
And, once you start bending, or breaking rules, just to get a bet on, the sytem's gone anyway.
This system might be well suited for anybody who loves the feel of adrenaline coursing through their veins. But that's far above my personal comfort level.
Ideal for Lay The Place, would be a spread-following, betting bot, one that could follow more than two, or three prices at the same time, thus taking all the stress out of the equation.
Other than that, I have to say, it's a neat little system, albeit, not for me though.
Edit By Sam:- Anyone who feels that they may be able to blog this get in touch, it willll require you to be able to monitor markets all day

Day 9. Managed one race, and a loss of £170 for the day.
Overall, three races have been missed due to juggling the prices of at sometimes, three horses, fast moving prices, and working to the rules of the system.
Had we managed to get on for all races identified by Lay The Place, we'd be showing a profit of about £100. As it is, we're down £171 at the moment.

Again due to work committments testing will continue next week.

1 Selection which was successful
System Profit £70.29
That completes a month of testing although we did not make the profit expected I do like this system. At one point we were £170 up but a poor period in the middle of the month put the system about £100 in the red, but by the end of the month the system recovered to £70 up. I am going to test this for another month starting next week. I have to take a break from testing of this week as I am being sent on a First Aid Course from work.
A detailed report of this months testing we appear in the Newsletter.

Sick of Spam in your inbox?
Some of you will probably have seen this when you emailed me, the site is called spamarrest and basically what it does is filter out all of the spam meaning that only genuine emails reach your inbox! In the past i may have been receiving upwards of 200 emails per day 75% of which were spam, because of this volume it was easy to miss what was a genuine email, thanks to spam arrest however i now only receive genuine emails to my inbox. Now, this service isnt free however it costs $5 per month (£2.20) which is 50p per week which in my opinion is well worthwhile, there is however a free 30 day trial so if you dont like it you can cancel at anytime, if you want to visit spamarrest click here

Day 30
Typical that on the last day of the test we have a disaster.
daily p/l -£122.99
Bank now £869.10
Overall after the 30 day test the system has made a loss of just over £130, now because of this you would expect me to move it straight to the failed section, truth is, I love this system!
When you get this program granted the selections are loaded automatically each day and its just a matter of placing the bets, the thing is that you are give no information on how to bet, eg straight win or place. This is fair enough as the seller only provides the selections and its up to the user after that. The thing i started to think half way through this test was that it would give excellent results if used on the place market. With selections of 12/1 , 9/2, 6/1 etc place odds willll be decent making this a very viable option. During the system test countless times we had a losing run thanks to a 12/1 shot coming second, hence you can see my reasons for considering the place market.
Another great thing about this software is that it only allows you to have 6 losing bets in a row this means that the bank can never be wiped out and the amount to stake is goverened by the size of your bank.
I am going to carry this test on for another 30 days this time using the place market, my prediction is that this will be a very successful period, watch this space

Lay 51 Operation
Day 30, and a successful one at that.
2 lays, with both horses losing their races.
Final wrap-up.
The Lay 51 test began back on June 13. Over the 30 days, we paper-bet on 22 races, with 18 successful lay bets.
That's a strike rate of close to 82%, and an average BF starting price around 3.20.
The £2000, paper bank increased to £2854, for an ROI of 42.7%.
It's a system with only six simple rules to follow, and, while it's advertised that all can be done right off the Betfair site, I found it much easier to head on over to Racing Post, select a meet and click on, 'VIEW ALL RACES AT THIS MEETING ON ONE PAGE'.
Vis-a-vis, sifting through the Betfair site, this method cut the selection time dramatically.
Every day multiple horses were listed with two wins in a row, that often as not, had to be excluded due to the six simple rules.
Form listings showed over and over, horses winning two in a row, only to lose the next time out. And many times at that, not even landing inside the top ten.
Another point worthy of note, is how often the SP's of horses winning two in a row would, next time out, trend from outsiders, to no hopers. I suspect a closer look at form would give some indication as to why - up in class, jockey change, that sort of stuff.
Based on 22 bets over a 30-day trial period, Lay51 does not appear to be an everyday betting strategy, but one to be used in addition to other favoured systems.
As we know, all systems have their high and low points. So, how Lay51 does in the long run, is to be found out.
Based on observation, I'd add that the rules are there for good reason.
When following this system, to get more bets on, it's very easy to be tempted by the number of horses that fit most of the rules, but not quite all of the rules.
Usually, the one that doesn't fit most often is the price. In one race, for example, where the SP of the potential pick had drifted out to around 10.00, that horse ended up winning the race!
Had the price rule been broken, and that bet placed, it would have wiped out a months work. Ouch!!
Summing up, Lay 51 is built on the statistical fact that not even the best of horses win in bunches.
This the case, it's a stat we'd all be very well aware of.
Based on what I've seen though, I'd say Lay51 Operation is one to follow.

Lay 51 Operation
I went back and tidied up my spreadsheet a little, and it seems I missed a couple of day counts.
So today is actually Day #27, and with no picks to report on.
There were two potentials, one of them winning its last two races, and a string of top five finishes prior, up and down all classes, and yet it goes off on Betfair at 34.00?
Puzzler, to me, anyway.
